Who Can Sleep With All That Noise?

from buzzfeed: This Is Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's Actual Twitter Account

These tweets paint a complicated picture of a confused young man on the threshold of adulthood.  Misogynistic bloviation in the gangsta hip-hop mode alternates with adorable photos of Dzhokhar's cat.  There is religious conviction, exasperated 9/11 truthism, and glimpses of real compassion for others.  There's a tweet from August 2012 hinting that Dzhokhar and his brother Tamerlan may have been planning or contemplating their Boston Marathon atrocity for eight months or more.

They don't seemed to have put much thought into their getaway.

People will argue both sides of this--Dzhokhar is a monster, or he's the victim of his evil brother.  Well, the psychology of harm is usually more complicated than we care to admit.  Few of those who perform evil acts are real sociopaths.  Maybe Tamerlan Tsarnaev was one such, maybe he wasn't.

The following tweet, in its intimately banal sublimity, makes me laugh, and breaks my heart.

"I really don't like it when I have one ear pressed against the pillow and I start to hear my heart beat, who can sleep with all that noise"
